Last night about 9 pm Precious had an auto accident on Anderson Avenue. She is in a great deal of pain in her back, legs, neck, and chest but is otherwise doing well. She had been returning home from visiting her mother at St Joseph Village when she had a long blackout (seizure) and remembers nothing more. The car swerved off the road into a yard and crashed into a garage. The police say she must have been traveling about 30 mph when she jumped the kerb. A policeman came to my door about an hour later and told me she was at the emergency room but he didn't know why she was there. Precious' head was injured and she couldn't remember my phone number. It is after 2 am and I just left her--she is resting well and will sleep for six to seven hours now.
Please pray for her. The doctors are concerned about what the blackout may mean. It could be a flare-up of epilepsy, or it could be a mini-stroke. Please pray for me too--her accident will exacerbate her previous back and head injuries and will mean she will need my help to do the basics of getting around.
Despite her pain and the return of hospital anxiety (she loathes being a patient), Precious is a pleasant patient and her nurses obviously like her. Our hope is that the docs will figure things out quickly, prescribe the right course of action, and she will be able to get home asap.
Oh, and by the way...the car is totaled. So long Pontiac, but I'm glad to still have Precious...she was wearing her seat belt. Who cares about the car?
